Auto Tour Day Two – Sunday 20th September

Sunday 20th:

7.30am Chamois leather out, picnic bags replenished and luggage packed – just!  A leisurely breakfast is enjoyed by all in preparation for a day of driving with some considerable miles to cover to get to Chateau de Bagnols and stunning scenery to boot.

Pace notes, maps and sat nav’s still didn’t prevent some slight navigational challenges making Reims Centre a destination of choice favoured in particular by (all) Porsches!  It’s amazing what an Austin Healey can do on vapour as well!

No less than 4 speed camera flashes later – heading for lunch at the beautiful Abbaye de Boussiere – warm towels and refreshments served as the fleet gather to share more stories and laughs.  The tracking devices came in very handy for a few late arrivals…..!!

Refreshed and all set for an afternoon of rolling French countryside and winding roads, the route was complimented and much enjoyed by all.

Nothing could have been more typically French than arriving to the breath taking Chateau de Bagnol with a village fete, music and pony rides taking place outside – a glorious balmy sunny afternoon made for an idyllic scene as the convoy began to regroup again.

Refreshments, chats, bonnets up, luggage out and spirits high taking in the pure elegance and tranquillity of the incredible surroundings – the perfect setting for the Black tie soiree to follow and no doubt ending with some more dipping in to the extremely handsome Linley Humidor which was fast becoming a much admired and valued addition to the Tour!
